Risk Assessments
Workplace Risk Assessments advise on what action should be taken to either eliminate or, if not possible, reduce the risk as far as is reasonably practicable. These assessments must be carried out by a competent person, be written, and be available to all employees.
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require a general ‘Risk Assessment’ as already explained, but in addition, the employer must appoint one or more ‘competent persons’ to assist in their (employers) Health and Safety arrangements. CQMS can fulfill the roll of competent persons.
As well as General Risk Assessments as detailed in the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, other more specific legislation, require specific risk assessments to be carried out and be available. These include: the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002, the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992, the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, the Noise at Work Regulations 2005 and the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
A Method Statement is a documented Safe System of Work detailing how a particular process will be carried out. It should detail the possible dangers/risks associated with your particular part of the project and the methods of control to be established, to show how the work will be managed safely
Again, CQMS can fulfill this role and carry out detailed Risk Assessments explaining the action required to reduce the risk further. Any training requirements detailed can also be provided by CQMS.
